According to HSE guidelines the construction of cooling towers should be planned and built in a strategic manner to avoid health risks of workers. During the 1950’s asbestos was a widely used fire retardant insulator that was fabricated for use in power stations, factories, steelworks and of course the residential built environment for piping and more.

Whilst many politicians debated the serious issues related to the continued development of nuclear power stations and their role as an energy resource, they neglected to identify a major nationwide health and safety problem. This immediate danger affected construction workers in power stations who handled asbestos products on a regular basis; residents who disturbed decaying asbestos in their homes; factory workers who unknowingly inhaled deadly asbestos dust – These innocent bystanders who, years later, could be suffering devastating health concerns or have actually died from illnesses such as Mesothelioma cancer or scarred their lungs and be attempting to claim compensation for pleural plaques. More information can be read about the effects of asbestos in power stations at: “View further information on the use of asbestos in powerstations during the 1950′s“.

According to HSE (Cooling Tower Construction 4.1.2) ~ all new construction guidelines must be adhered and are detailed in ACOP L8 on design and construction in paras 70-78. HSE are particularly concerned about diseases that lie in stagnant water such as legionnaires. Legionnaires disease and the control of legionella in water systems is outlined in the Approved code of practice and L8 – http://www.hse.gov.uk/legionnaires/coolingtowers.htm

It is detailed that new cooling tower water systems must be constructed in such a way that the packs can be removed for inspection and cleaning. Pack removal can be both strenuous, laborious and take time depending on the setup. Older cooling towers contain more risk as the practicality of pack removal contains risks within itself. Often the packs are decaying with age and disintegrate on removal. The dismantling, or partial dismantle of the cooling tower is occasionally the only safe method. New cooling tower packs are designed in such a way whereby removal and access is easy. Generally through the use of access hatches and sectional pack system, or through using a hanging fill pack which basically has removable sides leaving less to clean in situ. This restricts any harmful exposure that workers, industrial cleaners and inspectors may face.

One of the most common portable cooling towers that you might be able to relate unto is your average air conditioning unit system. It might not be able to cool down an entire plant or factory but there are some cooling towers that are basically for such huge structures.

Air conditioning is commonly referred to as the procedure of dehumidifying the air for your comfort; it has been designed to give coziness and comfort specifically during those unbearable hot and warm seasons.

As we advance technologically, chemical developments and electrical discoveries have improved the concept of portable cooling towers and air conditioners. However, its purpose still remains, to give comfort and coziness to its users. It has been known that in indoor environment, portable coolers supplies a constant or unchanging temperature regulating it no matter what weather changes may occur outside.

However, its function may differ and its size may vary as well if where you’re going to install it. Naturally if you’re going to install it in a large or huge structure let’s say a factory. You don’t need a portable cooling tower but the big ones, a cooling tower that will be able to regulate the temperature of your plant or factory.

Furthermore, it’s not only the thought of comforting its user that usually comes into play with portable cooling towers. It also supplies practical and appropriate settings in different circumstances where crucial procedures need to be implemented, it is known as the Process application.

This can be manifested in operating rooms and emergency rooms in every hospital, air conditioning unit provides and filters air as well as control humidity to lessen the risk of dehydration of the patient. Surgeries such as by-pass operation requires about 18 degrees Celsius, whereas industrial and electrical plants which produces IC’s as well as pharmaceuticals requires clean rooms with the highest level of clean air. Other such big plants and factories which need regulated and controlled air use cooling towers that will provide them of what they need.

Today, the use of portable cooling towers are not limited to indoor or closed area only but can also be used in any outdoor events as well such as: weddings, tournaments and all other outdoor activities that needed some cooling. And as technological advancement goes more advanced people gets the chance to experience its wonders and at the same time, enjoy all the amenities, the convenient and comfort that it certainly offers.
Indeed, from the time of the Greeks up to now, portable cooling towers has literally brought comfort and coziness for each individual be it in an indoor setting or outdoor happenings.

If you’re running a huge industrial plant or factory and you’re confident enough that it’s running smoothly in best conditions, you might as well not be over confident. You’ll never know when certain circumstantial factors would easily come to play. So the best thing for you to do is be prepared when such situation may come to arise.

Such factors as environmental changes may cause a great impact on your plants performance, if you haven’t prepared certain measures to counter act such natural occurrences. Extreme weather changes to be exact could let you lose a lot of money if you have been caught unprepared as your plant may struggle to perform; therefore it is crucial that you make yourself ready to deal with unpleasant condition.

One of such known and natural conditions that may happen is during summer heats. As you may be well aware of you may not only risk your business during cold and wet seasons, even during summer months can bring possible dilemma to your business too. During these hot and warm seasons, your factory or plant may find itself in jeopardy of burning itself out or slowing down its performance.

And if you happen to be saving from your electric consumptions, this is where cooling tower rentals may come in aid for your company. You don’t have to sacrifice your company’s productivity and performance just to save expenses on your end. Since there are some cooling tower rental companies which offer affordable and negotiable cooling towers such as the one you can find at www.VaritechEquipmentCompany.com

So, you know that the best way in minimizing your plants or factory’s productivity from suffering in such steamy hot weather is to seek professional and outside help from cooling tower rental companies.

There are actually several ways in boosting your plants cooling capabilities, the first one is to augment or enhance your plant or factory’s existing cooling tower. How to do this? Simply be redirecting a part of hot water from your cooling tower by passing it to the rented one. What the other cooling tower does is isolate a certain exchanger from your cooling tower and put it on the rented cooling tower. Such solution will definitely help you stay on the same track no matter how warm and hot the weather may become, or no matter how hot it is outside you can be sure that inside your plant is as cool as Antarctic’s breeze.

Cooling tower is a very important unit operation in the processing industries. It is imperative to minimize the cost of running the operation of the cooling tower.

The purpose of a cooling tower or condenser system is to reuse and reduce water usage. Determining the conductivity set point of the system is important to maximum your water reuse. Conductivity is the electrical resistance measurement of the dissolved solids, suspended solids, and dissolved gases of the water and is expressed in micro ohms (uomhs).

Corrosion inhibitors and scale prevention chemicals are used to maximize the number of cycles. The definition of cycles is the number of times the water is reused in the water system. For example, if the makeup water to the cooling tower is 100 uomhs and your tower recirculating is 800 uomhs, your cycles are calculated as follows:

Cycles = Cooling Tower Recirculating Conductivity / Cooling Tower Make-up Water

For this Example: Cycles = 800 uomhs / 100 uomhs or 8

Percent blowdown for the tower is calculated the following way:

Percent Blowdown = ( 1 / Cycles) x 100

For this Example: Percent Blowdown = (1/8) x 100 = 12.5%

This means 12.5% of the water is being lost to blow down. Knowing your tower cycles is important for minimizing water usage and reducing the amount of water lost to blowdown. Determining proper cycles or conductivity set point is dependent on the water alkalinity and calcium. Every system is unique.

Changing your cycles from 2 to 8 equates to a 38% water savings (50% – 12.5% = 38.5%). Going from 8 to 12 is only a water savings of 3.4% (12.5 % – 9.1%).

Conclusion

Operating your cycles at a higher rate has minimal benefit beyond 8 cycles. Going from 8 to 12 cycles increased the recirculating water impurities by 33%. Many times water systems are stressed to the point of scaling. There is no need to take the added scaling risk for minimal water savings.

If you are shopping for oscillating tower fans for your home or office then there are several choices that you have to make and by following our simple guide you should be able to find the most suitable one. It is not a super complex set of options, but there are quite a number of models to choose from and it is good to be clear about your needs and your budget before you start looking. The more expensive models come loaded with features such as timing functions, remote controls, breeze modes and even ionizers. However, these features come with a price and may not be needed for all circumstances.

For a larger space you may wish to consider a stand or pedestal fan as an alternative to the tower fan. The adjustable stands on these type of products enables you to get the fan head up higher and so the air can be blown over a larger area of the room. With a pedestal fan with a fairly decent sized head such as 16″, which is one of the most common home fan sizes, you will get good coverage in a large room or office area. However, for smaller spaces the oscillating tower fan will be just fine.

One point to make about the tower fans compared to the stand fans is that they take up less space and they also tend to look very stylish. So if you have a smaller space in your home or office an attractive looking tower fan is both practical and it looks great too. In fact, there is an even a smaller version known as the mini tower fan which can easily be placed on a table or desk.

So, once you have decided that the tower fan is suitable for the space you need cooling in you should consider if any of the more advanced features are really required. For example the more costly models in the Bionaire tower fan range have features such as a remote control. This is self explanatory, but of course it adds to the cost of the fan, so do you need this function or not? Another advanced feature is the “breeze” mode. On the Bionaire fans this mode will attempt to create a natural breeze by switching the fan between its various speed settings in a cycle. It is a great feature, but again you may not need this.

The more pricey units also tend to look a bit more “cool”. Maybe they will be made with a chrome or silver finish as opposed to a more “plastic” looking cheaper unit. This is another point to consider. If you just want some basic cooling at the office or in a small workshop then you may not be bothered how the unit looks, so a cheaper oscillating tower fan would do you just fine.

However, if you need something for your living room or bedroom then maybe you would be interested to spend more to get a really good looking tower fan with some of the more high end functions. The timer function is very useful for the bedroom as it will enable the fan to switch off when you are sleeping and automatically turn on again in the morning. Most models have this, but this feature will be more sophisticated on the higher end products.

So, to conclude this quick guide you will need to first consider the room size, then consider if it is important how the fan looks and finally take in to account whether you need the more advanced features or not. A top of the range oscillating tower fan will cost you at least double the price of a basic item, so it is worth taking some time before you make your choice. Of course all these products will provide you with the basics which are oscillation and speed controls, and maybe that is all you really need.

Herman Nelson AC Unit parts are devices used in controlling and maintaining temperatures and humidity at preferred levels through the distribution of dry, cold or hot air into an indoor environment. Nelson AC Unit parts regulate air by pumping cool air indoors thus replacing hot air, which is then forced into the ductwork and out of the house. The hot air is then cooled and pumped back into the house. They are especially essential in all homes, warehouses, industries and hospitals during summer.

Herman Nelson AC Unit parts vary in sizes, price and function. The four basic categories of the air conditioning units are:

Split-system Nelson AC Unit parts – These are the most common air conditioning systems in the US today. They have two units, with one designed for outdoors, while the other unit is fixed inside the home or office. The two units are connected using a copper tune and ducts that run to the different rooms in a building.

Windows Herman Nelson AC Unit parts – These are designed to fit on the standard window blowing in cold air indoors, while sucking the hot air out. They resemble a large box attached to one’s window and are available as basic units, which are east to install and maintain and the mini-ductless unit, which is able to cool larger areas.

Cooling-tower Herman Nelson air conditioner parts – These units blows cool air into streams of water, which then trickles through sheets of mesh. As the air cools, some of the water is lost through evaporation and thus the system requires constant addition of water.

Chilled-water Herman Nelson AC Unit parts – These units are placed on the roof of a building or on the backyard. The Units cools water up to 7.2 C. The water is then pumped to the building through pipes on the walls, floors and ceilings. This in turn causes a cooling effect in the house.

With the need to conserve energy, more people are adopting new ways of keeping the indoor environment cool during summer without having to use the Herman Nelson AC Unit parts. Such efforts include using ice cooling system. However the Herman Nelson AC Unit parts cannot be entirely done away with. This is because the air conditioning effect of the units makes the hot weather bearable for most people across the country.

When purchasing a Herman Nelson AC Unit parts, a home owner needs to determine the type of cooling system most appropriate for his home.

What exactly are cooling towers anyway? They are heat rejection devices used to extract waste heat into the air from the cooling of a water stream to a lesser temperature. They are also referred to evaporate heat rejection devices. These devices provide lower water temperatures than an air cooled or heat rejection devices.

Cooling towers are used in air conditioning, electric power generation and in various manufacturing facilities. They can be referred to both open circuit and closed circuit heat rejection equipment.

Small cooling towers are designed to handle only a few gallons of water per minute, which is supplied by small pipes. The large towers cool hundreds of thousands of gallons of water per minute. The pipes supplying the water are up to fifteen feet in diameter. These are found in large power plants.

There are several different types of cooling towers. One such type is the mechanical-draft cooling towers. They rely on power driven fans that draw or force the air through the specific tower.

Another type of cooling tower is the natural draft-cooling tower. It uses buoyancy of exhaust air rising in a chimney to provide the needed draft for cooling. Another type is the fan-assisted natural draft tower uses a mechanical draft to expand the buoyancy.

In the past, they relied on the prevailing winds to get the air drafts needed for cooling.

Cooling towers can emit a lot of noise. Things that cause the noise include the sound of water falling, the sound of large fans along with motors and drive belts as well.

Many terms are associated with water coolers. We will briefly go over a few of them. Leaching refers a loss of wood preservative chemicals caused by the washing action of flowing water through a wooden cooling tower. A plume is a stream of exhaust leaving the tower.

Blowouts are water droplets that are blown out of the cooling towers with the exhaust air that is blown out.
